TPAC to offer up 'Legally Blonde The Musical' featuring Tony-nominated star of the Broadway production

**Be sure to stop by the O&AN booth this Saturday to enter our ticket giveaway. See you at Pride!**

If you plan to catch the upcoming production of Legally Blonde The Musical at TPAC, you are in for a special treat. Stepping in to fill Elle’s shoes once again are two actresses very familiar with the role: Lauren Ashley Zakrin, star of the MTV reality series, “Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods,” and Laura Bell Bundy, the Tony-nominated star of the Broadway Production.

Bundy, who recently relocated to Nashville to pursue a country music career, will perform as Elle during all evening performances June 23-28. Zakrin will take the role during the matinee performances and is currently filling the part in Dayton, Ohio.

"The excitement of having Legally Blonde The Musical at TPAC has been building since we announced the title last spring. We’re wrapping up our 2008-2009 season with a show that is absolutely, outrageously fun,” said Kathleen O’Brien, TPAC’s president and CEO. “And what a nice opportunity for Nashville audiences to welcome two amazing Elles to TPAC’s stage.”

In its first year on Broadway, Legally Blonde The Musical earned seven 2007 Tony Award nominations, ten 2007 Drama Desk Award Nominations, a 2007 Outer Critics Circle Award and the chorus of the musical was honored by Actors’ Equity Association’s Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA) with the first ever ACCA Award. The musical also ranked in the top ten list of the most requested Ticketmaster “Arts & Theatre Events” for 2007.

The show received three 2009 Touring Broadway Awards this year in New York City. The show won awards for Best New Musical, Best Production Design and Best Choreography of a Touring Production. The Awards, presented by The Broadway League, honor excellence in Touring Broadway.

Tickets range from $22.50-74.50, and are available at the TPAC Box Office (Downtown or at Davis-Kidd Booksellers in The Mall at Green Hills), online at www.tpac.org/legallyblonde, or any Ticketmaster outlet, including area Kroger stores and Macy’s. Gender-Inclusive Universities and Student Privacy

For many students, attending university is a profound, often life-changing, transition. It is often the student’s first time living on their own without parental supervision. This lifestyle is also accompanied by a period of self-discovery, of defining and redefining a sense of personal identity largely independent of the influence of family and friends from home.

For students who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, this rite of passage can also be a deeply empowering one. Indeed, attending university may be the student’s first real opportunity to explore their gender identity in a safe, comfortable, and accepting college.

I had the opportunity to visit Mexico for an event José Cuervo was putting on, the unveiling of their premium tequila brand, Reserva de la Familia. The trip was all about tequila, how to drink it properly, how to pair it with food, and of course, visiting various points of interest in Guadalajara while tasting tequila along the way.
