Spring craft fair celebrates 34 years May 6 to May 8 at Centennial Park

Named one of the “Top 20 Events in the Southeast,” by the Southeast Tourism Society, the TACA (Tennessee Arts and Crafts Association) Spring Craft Fair will be celebrating its 34 th anniversary this year in Nashville’s Centennial Park, May 6 through May 8.

The fairis the state’s premier outdoor showcase for Tennessee craft artists, and attracts over 50,000 people to see new work by a select group of more than 175 Tennessee fine craft artists.

The TACA Craft Fair has always been springtime’s most highly anticipated event for the art community. All craft artists are selected by a jury for the high quality of design and craftsmanship reflected in their work. The TACA Spring Craft Fair highlights the rich diversity of crafts being produced across the state of Tennessee, and many of these artists embrace techniques and methods that have been around for centuries.

The Fair offers shoppers the opportunity to meet and talk with exhibiting artists, eat and drink from an international food court, enjoy live entertainment, visit special exhibits and demonstrations, purchase a wide-variety of handcrafted works, and, for the kids, create their own works of art.

“TACA has been a very integral part of my development as a professional potter/sculptor,” says openly gay artist Roy Overcast, one of only 16 artists who have received the status as an Honorary TACA member, “TACA helped to set my goals to become a practicing potter/sculptor with my own studio.”

Overcast is one of only five artists who have exhibited every single year from the inception of the fair. Working primarily in clay, Overcast has been extremely influential in his work to preserve traditional arts in Tennessee. Overcast also holds the office of President of the Ruby Green Art Foundation–a cutting edge contemporary visual arts center in Nashville.

“My series of Sculptural Bad Hair Girls are a whimsical favorite at the TACA Fair as well as my Herb Labels for your garden,” states Overcast.

Mark your calendars now for this unparalleled event. For more information, you can contact the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists at (615) 385-1904 or go to www.tennesseecrafts.org.

The third iteration in WhistlePig’s Single Barrel PiggyBack Legends Series, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is bottled at 96.77 proof, a nod to Valtteri Bottas’ racing number, 77, and the precision of racing. Inspired by Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, this Rye Whiskey is finished with lychee and oolong tea. Herbal and floral notes of the oolong tea complement the herbaceous notes of WhistlePig’s signature PiggyBack 100% Rye, rounded out with a juicy tropical fruit finish and a touch of spice.

by Spectrum Medical Care Center

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
