Perfect patios

A staple of easy summertime living is patio dining, and Nashville offers an array of options whether you're looking for a Bloody Mary brunch, a taco lunch or want to wind down with wine at dinner. Our challenge to you: try them all before there's a chill in the air.

Nero's Grill
2122 Hillsboro Dr
Nashville, TN 37215
(615) 297-7777

This Green Hills mega restaurant has a surpassingly quaint and quiet atmosphere that makes for a great date or a relaxing afternoon full of sun and vino. Thick bushes hide you from the parking lot next door and white lights create a romantic glow in the evenings.  The patio has a very European feel, and the menu is original and reasonable with hearty salads and great vegetarian options.  Plus, they serve a Sunday brunch complete with a made-to-order omelette station, eggs benedict, fresh fruit and oh so much french toast.

Rumba
3009 W End Ave
Nashville, TN 37203
(615) 321-1350

This trendy Spanish eatery is patio perfection!  The patio is full of large tables that can be moved to accommodate large groups, or smokers taking a break from the bar.  Their menu is flavorful and filling, and their late night menu includes pizza, flat breads, and even single spoons full of delicious seafood treats.  If you are looking for a more intimate setup, you can grab one of the two tops that circle around the front- perfect for date night!  Rumba has a great artistic atmosphere and even better food. Their half price bottles of wine on Sunday make it the perfect spot for Sunday Fun Day!

Bailey's Irish Pub
408 Broadway
Nashville, TN 37203
(615) 254-5452‎

This upscale sports bar is great for game days and just games in general with Ping-Pong, darts, and pool on both floors.  Located in the heart of the Honkey Tonk capitol of the world, their second story patio gives a great view of the excitement of downtown without the stares of the masses walking by.   "I like it because it's sheltered and you aren't in all the traffic," said Victoria Sedwick from Canada, who first came to Bailey's seeking a break from the tourist attractions of downtown Nashville. The patio is very versatile, with heaters in the winter, and fans in the summer, and two tvs for all the sports (or athlete) enthusiasts. This Irish pub has a hearty selection of Southwest American appetizers and entrees. Make sure to ask about their industry discounts!

San Antonio Taco Co.
416 21st Ave S
Nashville, TN 37203
(615) 327-4322

Taco Co. is a great option whether you want to get in-and-out or wander about.  Although it is usually overcrowded with Vandy freshman during the fall, the summer break frees up a lot of table space for a sunny lunch away from the office or a bucket of beers after work.  The price is right for their basic items, but you will get charged for any and all extras- including sour cream packets.  With window service and no servers, it's a great spot for a nonchalant evening or a serious beerfest.

Rosepepper Catena
1907 Eastland Ave
Nashville, TN 37216
(615) 227-4777

A staple of East Nashville brings fun and flavor to Rosepepper's menu and ambiance. The patio is enormous and the party usually is too.  The decor is funky and friendly, and there is always something cool to look at.   "Plus they have the best margaritas in town," according to Ryan Johns, a Nashville local and avid Rosepepper patron.  With comfy cushions and a lot of room this patio is definitely is great for a long stay or a group event.

Sambuca
601 12th Ave S
Nashville, TN 37203
(615) 467-0124

When it comes to atmosphere, Sambuca truly is the eatery elite.  The first floor patio is fun and comfortable for lunch or dinner.  However, the upstairs is a true Nashville treasure with one of the best views in town. This serene patio offers comfort and privacy with couches and corners creating a romantic and exciting feel.   Further setting the mood, Sambuca's live band can be heard through speakers at a reasonable volume throughout the restaurant, on the patio, and even in the bathrooms.  The food is slightly pricey, but they have a great wine list, good service and a very unique vibe from top to bottom.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
