Nashville in Harmony prepares for Premiere Gala capstone to their TENsational season

If you thought the rousing performances and guest stars at their Sugarplums holiday Ryman debut or the combined choral forces of their spring Choral Blast concert were the pinnacle of their TENsational season, think again. Nashville in Harmony (NiH) is just getting warmed up and are planning to pull out all the stops at this year's TENsational: Premiere Gala on Sunday, June 1 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Relive their TENsational season  with us and find out how to get tickets below.

Bravo Broadway- September 28, 2013

Kicked off back in September, NiH wowed us with Bravo Broadway held at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC). Performing numbers from classics such as The Wizard of OzWicked and Footloose, NiH was joined on stage by special guest Martha Wilkinson, Blake Whyte and dance performances by The Nashville Swing Dance Foundation. "It was a magical night getting to perform some of our all-time favorite Broadway songs such as "Seasons of Love" and "Little Shop of Horrors," said NiH baritone Don Brown. "The entire night came together beautifully with our guest soloists and dancers! It was truly Bravo! Broadway."

Sugar Plums Holiday Show- December 5, 2013

Making their Ryman Auditorium debut with Sugarplums, NiH hosted their inaugural Ryman show in true Nashville style . . . quite literally as ABC's Chris Carmack (Will Lexington from Nashville) and real-life Nashville mayor Karl Dean were on hand to celebrate. “Singing on The Ryman’s stage, with its profound history, I felt honored," said NiH tenor Brett Perkins. "I looked past the audience, the pews, and the beautiful stained-glass windows into a world that is coming into existence.  To be part of that journey is amazing … moving forward is amazing … but that night, the movement was tangible.  It was a step - in no better a symbolic way than onto the stage of the Mother Church of Country Music.”

Choral Blast- March 4, 2014

In what could've quite possibly been their most far-reaching concert to date, Choral Blast saw NiH joining forces with four other Nashville vocal groups: Nashville Singers, Metro Nashville Chorus, Hunters Lane High School Chorale and the MLK Reunion Choir. Blending more than 250 voices,  Choral Blast's special performance from all five choral groups led by special guest conductor, Greg Gilpin, renowned choral composer who wrote Nashville in Harmony's signature song, "Why We Sing," was a concert highlight.

"For ten years we have used our mission, 'using music to build community and create social change,' in order to guide our efforts and our growth," said NiH alto and Marketing Director Julie Reliford. "Over those ten years, we have had many small successes in which we feel that we have really lived that mission. However, nothing comes close to the magnitude of success and the sense of accomplishment that I felt the night of the TENsational: Choral Blast! Standing shoulder to shoulder on the historic Ryman stage with over 250 voices from five diverse choruses and singing about tearing down walls and building bridges of understanding is an experience that I will I always treasure."

Premiere Gala- June 1, 2014

With three shows down, NiH is excitedly preparing for their first headlining show at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The evening will feature the world premiere of “Suite Progress”, a three-movement musical work commissioned especially for this occasion, by award winning composer Jason Shelton. Within that performance, NiH will feature a special youth chorus, comprised of the children of NiH members. There will also be a video retrospective of Nashville in Harmony’s history as well as a peek into the dreams the chorus has for the next ten years. In attendance will be special dignitaries as well as surprise guests.

Tickets are on sale now and available online. Prices range from $20 to $40.

But, wait - it gets better! For those wishing to make an already spectacular evening into an affair to remember, tickets for “dinner and a show” are available for $125 with seating on the main floor of the concert hall starting at 6 p.m.. Diners will enjoy a delicious 4-course meal before the concert begins and will already be in some of the best seats in the house to enjoy the show. What better way to experience live music in Nashville’s premier concert hall, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center? Tickets for “dinner and a show” are available by emailing NiH.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
