LP Field to be site of 2006 Gay Life & Business Expo

Nashville’s GLBT Chamber of Commerce (NAPP) will hold the 2006 Gay Life & Business Expo at LP Field, home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, on Saturday, Nov. 4, from noon to 6:00 p.m.

Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Bridgestone have teamed up this year to be presenting sponsors as the second annual Expo moves to a larger venue with easier access and plenty of free parking.

Kevin Richards Entertainment will offer a drawing for attendees to win a cruise for two to the Dominican Republic on the Costa Mediterranea Feb. 25 to March 4, 2007. Other giveaways are planned, including the chance to win a set of tires donated by Bridgestone.

The Expo will be held in the Club West section of the stadium at LP Field. The area boasts more than 13,000 square feet of space, and includes a view of the Nashville downtown skyline.

John Wade, president of the Nashville’s GLBT Chamber, said was excited that officials at LP Field would work with the gay chamber on securing the venue.

Last year’s first-ever Expo drew more than 700 people and 50 exhibitors. Wade expects the crowds this year to be “significantly more” including more exhibitors.

More than 32 vendors have secured space for the Expo and Wade said he expected to quickly sell out of vendor spaces.

“We’ve got at least 60 vendor spaces in the main exhibitor hall and could make additional room for up to 80 spaces,” Wade said. “Applications are already coming in at twice the rate they did last year. Having the Expo at LP Field has a lot of people excited. I expect that we will sellout vendor space.”

The Club West area is carpeted has built-in bars and permanent buffet line. The Club offers wireless microphones, television, monitors and PA speakers throughout the room to facilitate audio and video playback, as well as the capacity to patch live closed circuit through 44 TV’s. Two lounges will be available for Expo workshops.

“While most all exhibitors and attendees found the Cannery to be a unique and fun location, the over all feel was that we needed more space,” Wade said. “I think vendors and attendees were all so very pleased with last year’s event. It really gives the community a chance to learn of GLBT businesses and resources which they may have missed or overlooked, in some cases for years.”

Sponsors at print deadline include Presenting Sponsors: Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Bridgestone; President Level: Vanderbilt Medical Center; D2 Designs; Tribe and Play; Kevin Richards Entertainment; Board Room Sponsor: Deloitte and John Wade, CFP (TM), UBS Financial Services; Doubletree Hotel; SBResults; Chairman Media Sponsor: “Out & About Newspaper;” President Media Sponsor: “Inside Out Nashville;” Board Room Media Sponsor: “Church Street Freedom Press.”

Exhibitor space and sponsorships can now be secured. The exhibitor booth price is $150 for NAPP members and $200 for non-members. Applications can be secured by contacting wade at wade1412@comcast.net. Additional information on the conference can be found at www.nashvilleglbtchamber.org.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
