District 13 is rapidly winning the race for most homophobes running for Metro Council this year! Last week, Victory Fund denounced Dan Meredith, who has a long history of homophobic social media posts. But two days ago, shortly before he was arrested for violating an order of protection and destroying the victim's (his sister's) security camera with a pickax, at-large Matthew DelRossi made a couple of pretty homophobic posts on Facebook, both directly targeting District 13's LGBT candidate Russ Bradford.
Homophobic Tirade
DelRossi, who is most well-known politically for forcing a runoff in the last vice mayoral race, posted on June 8, 2019, "'Bitch canon' gay slang for Russ Bradford. Just a simple bitch canon."
Minutes later, DelRossi posted, "Hey buddy just remember 50% of the 4% of the gay population, is not a bicth.[sic]"
Matthew DelRossi's Social Media Posts
He then commented on his own post, "Russ Bradford represents 2% of the male, (bitch) population."
These social media posts were made between 3:51 & 3:57 p.m. Not long afterward, DelRossi posts a tirade about his sister's security camera on his own Facebook wall. Davidson County Sheriff's records document that by 6:45 p.m. DelRossi had been arrested and had begun to be booked. The candidate was released from jail on June 10, just before noon.

Homophobia in District 13
With the homophobia heating up in District 13, and with LGBT candidate Russ Bradford under direct fire, there is little doubt that the Metro Council election is taking on greater significance. Click here for more information on Russ Bradford.
[EDITED - Matthew J DelRossi was originally mis-identified as a candidate for Metro's District 13, but he is actually an at-large candidate.]
