Brooke Lynn Hytes on Cast for RuPaul's Drag Race

Soon, her name will be nearly as familiar as a drag name as it is for being a neighborhood in New York, we’re betting! That’s right, one of Nashville’s favorites will again grace the stage and workroom of RuPaul’s Drag Race! If you’ve been wondering where PLAY Dance Bar Playmate Brooke Lynn Hytes has been hiding, now you know: Season 11 taping has been underway.

Those of you unfamiliar with this beautiful and extremely talented queen will be amazed. She is extraordinarily skilled not only in the traditional arts of drag, but also in performance and dance. And, yes, we know many queens are, but not quite so many can boast of having been a professional ballet dancer. That’s right, Hytes was with Canada's National Ballet School, before embarking her drag career!

Hytes’ is also a highly decorated pageant quee. Back in 2015, when she was relatively new to Nashville, Hytes interviewed with O&AN as part of Paige Turner’s drag series. Then, she was currently reigning Miss Continental “and technically still Miss Canada Ultimate.” Besides those two, she had already held six other titles. She has continued competing in pageants since then, earning 1st Alternate in 2017 in the Miss Gay America Pageant.

Hytes gave Paige her opinion about RuPaul’s Drag Race back in 2015, and it was as politic as you’d expect from a beauty queen! “I think its great opportunity for whoever gets on the show. I think it’s been positive because it’s helped mainstream drag, but it’s been negative because all these new queens think that's what drag is. They don't know or care about what came before Drag Race, which is sad to me. And, no, I have never auditioned.”

If nothing else, we know one thing has changed since 2015: Hytes probably has auditioned at least once for Drag Race! And, in case you'd missed it, as a boy Brooke Lynn Hytes is a stone cold hottie:

The third iteration in WhistlePig’s Single Barrel PiggyBack Legends Series, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is bottled at 96.77 proof, a nod to Valtteri Bottas’ racing number, 77, and the precision of racing. Inspired by Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, this Rye Whiskey is finished with lychee and oolong tea. Herbal and floral notes of the oolong tea complement the herbaceous notes of WhistlePig’s signature PiggyBack 100% Rye, rounded out with a juicy tropical fruit finish and a touch of spice.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
