Artrageous 0019 promises a night that will leave you 'shaken not stirred'

On November 11, 2006, art lovers from across the country will descend on Nashville, Tennessee for the nineteenth annual Artrageous gallery tour and party. Voted Nashville’s "Top Charity Event" in 2005, Artrageous serves as a fund raiser for Nashville Cares, Tennessee's leading community-based AIDS service organization.

(The weekend promises a flury of activity - the Nashville Grizzlies gay rugby team play their first home game on Saturday,  November 11 against the Chicago Dragons at 11:00 a.m.  Details are at www.GrizzliesRugby.org.  Also a holiday open house is planned at the Blooming Boutique on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m., 4507 Charlotte Avenue. At the same time, Gallery 46 (located next to the Blooming Boutique) will hold its grand opening.)

Artrageous 0019’s theme is “Shaken Not Stirred” and will feature a James Bond homage throughout the eight participating galleries.

“In coming up with a theme for Artrageous 19, the committee wanted something exciting, hip, and something that could be used to tie the entire event together,” says Artrageous President Jon Glassmeyer.

Artrageous is a unique event in the way it brings together people from all areas of the Nashville community.  There are not many events which can boast any where near the level of diversity that is Artrageous,” he adds.

“The gallery tour, which has always been the heart of Artrageous, will be the main emphasis this year,” says Glassmeyer.”  “The tour will be extended one hour, 6:00 pm to 10:00 p.m., to give party-goers a chance to get to more galleries.”

This year’s late party will be held for the first time at City Hall (405 12th Ave South), a 12,000-square foot venue located in the heart of Nashville’s developing Arts & Entertainment District; The Gulch.

Since its inception, Artrageous has raised more than $2.5 million dollars for Nashville Cares to help provide education, services, prevention education and to raise awareness about AIDS among both medical and social service providers and the public-at-large.

Serving as co-chairs of this year’s Artrageous are Dana Delworth, David Glasgow and Todd Shelton.

General admission tickets are $85, and include access to the late party.  They are available on-line at www.artrageous.org, at any of the art galleries on the night of the event or at OutLoud Bookstore (1703 Church St.).

About Artrageous

Founded in 1987 as a benefit for Nashville CARES, Artrageous has raised more than $2 million for the support of AIDS education and services in Middle Tennessee. A group of Nashville's most prominent gallery owners began the event as a response to the AIDS epidemic and its devastating impact on the arts community. In recent years, Artrageous has been staged entirely by the volunteers of Artrageous, Inc., a not-for-profit, tax-exempt corporation.

Attracting a stunning mix of glamorous partygoers from across the nation, Artrageous has attained near-legendary status as Nashville's largest indoor charity event. It was named the "Top Charity Event" of 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2005 by the Nashville Scene readers poll. In 1996, Artrageous was selected for the short list of the South's top parties in The Gay Manual. In 1997, Artrageous was given the highest possible rankings from Events Report newsletter, which reviews charity fundraisers nationwide.

WhistlePig + Alfa Romeo F1

SHOREHAM, VT (September 13, 2023) — WhistlePig Whiskey, the leaders in independent craft whiskey, and Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake are waving the checkered flag on a legend-worthy release that’s taking whiskey to G-Force levels. The Limited Edition PiggyBack Legends Series: Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is a high Rye Whiskey selected by the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake drivers, with barrels trialed in their wind tunnel to ensure a thrilling taste in every sip.

The third iteration in WhistlePig’s Single Barrel PiggyBack Legends Series, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is bottled at 96.77 proof, a nod to Valtteri Bottas’ racing number, 77, and the precision of racing. Inspired by Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, this Rye Whiskey is finished with lychee and oolong tea. Herbal and floral notes of the oolong tea complement the herbaceous notes of WhistlePig’s signature PiggyBack 100% Rye, rounded out with a juicy tropical fruit finish and a touch of spice.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
