High fashion and an unpredictably great time are what organizers say is in store for those who attend the first-ever fashion show benefiting the Nashville GLBT Chamber of Commerce labeled “Unpredictable.”
The high-energy fashion show will be held at Play Dance Club on April 23 starting at 6 p.m.
Current sponsors include: Gold - Anode, Bridgestone North America, MTV Networks/CMT, Play Dance Club, The Edge of Belle Meade, Inside Out Nashville, Nashville Scene, Out & About Newspaper, and Wells Fargo. Silver Sponsors include Instinct Magazine, Loew's Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel and PlantOut/Gay.com.
Stores that have signed up to participate include Bamboo; Betty Badd Couture; Joe; Smack; and D'Vich Designs.
The show is being organized by chamber members and co-chairs Michael Fluck and Rick Harris and produced by Bud East. A team of volunteers is currently being organized by Fluck and Harris.
“This event is going to be unlike anything that has ever been done in Nashville,” Harris said. “Plan on being surprised by a truly sophisticated fashion show experience. Guests will witness not only the hottest Spring styles for men and women, but will be a part of an event that will showcase Nashville’s rogression into a truly cosmopolitan city to live, work and play.” The theme “Unpredictable” was selected because of the unpredictable nature of fashion, and the fact that this is the first year for the show. “As the first-of-its-kind inaugural event, the show is going to shake things up, open some eyes and has the components to become one of Nashville’s annual premier mustsee events,” explained Harris.
Producer East said Play would be transformed into a setting that would highlight the high energy of the event and fresh fashion. More than 20 models will show off the latest in fashion in casual wear, swimwear, underwear and a special category called “wild card.”
Ticket prices for the event start at $20 for general admission (advance purchase) or $25 at the door. Stage and runway seating tickets are available for $50. All tickets include admission to a silent auction and a special “unpredictable” food buffet. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the fashion show will begin at 7 p.m.
“We’ll have some great items that will be a part of the silent auction,” Fluck explained. Fluck said a limited number of tickets would be available for the event. Just over 300 tickets are expected to be sold and can be purchased at Play Dance Club; online at www.outandaboutnewspaper.com or through GLBT chamber members.
Approximately 100 VIP runway floor seats will be sold and 200 general admission tickets. Harris said he would encourage people to buy tickets early as he expects a sellout crowd. “This is clearly going to be Nashville’s ‘can’t miss’ event of the year,” he said.
