Annual GoGirls Music Festival benefits Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary

For eight years the GoGirls Music Festival has worked to promote independent women in music while supporting various charities that have included the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls, American Liver Foundation, MusiCares and more. Since 2000, over 100 all volunteer run shows have taken place throughout the U.S.  The annual festival brings together communities of “women in music” all across the United States for organized concerts this year choosing to benefit “animal friendly” charities and organizations.

Nashville's festival will feature performances by GoGirls Elite Members Treva & The Suits, Jenn Franklin, Kristen Cothron, Leigh Ann Yost, Susan Saruda, Marie McGarlvary, Debbie Watson and Headliner: Jen Foster ("Taking Bob Dylan").

The event will take place at The Mercy Lounge on Sunday, October 21, from 5-10:00 p.m.  Admission is a suggested $5 donation. The first 100 attendants will receive a free copy of the 2007 GoGirlsMusicFest Compilation CD.

Proceeds from the Nashville festival will benefit Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing abused, abandoned, and neglected animals in Middle Tennessee.

"I really enjoy the time I've spent working with GoGirls," said show headliner Jen Foster. Foster has also been featured on earlier GoGirls compilations.

"I've always had positive experiences with the organization because they work so hard to help female artists while also giving back to the community by supporting a lot of great causes."

"They do a lot of important work helping to get the word out about independent female artists," echoed songwriter Treva Blomquist.

"I love dogs and the fact that this show will help Freedom Farms makes it an even more special night for me."

In addition to all the great music, GoGirls Music will hold raffles and a silent auction featuring items donated by national and local sponsors including Discmakers,  Vetracueticals, The Nashville Scene, The Tennessee Titans, Bongo Java, Escape Day Spa & Salon, Zanies Comedy Club, The Nashville Zoo, The Nashville Symphony, Music City Unsigned, Shutter Creek Photography, Bathos, Cozymels, Gaylord Hotels, Las Paleta's and more.

Attendees who bring an item from Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary's "Wish List" will receive a free raffle ticket. Wish list items include: postage stamps, large and small manila envelopes, copy paper, kitten & cat food, cat litter, leashes, Advantage or Frontline flea control, nail clippers, scratching pads, grooming brushes and combs, towels, small rugs, toys for dogs and cats, pet treats, paper towels, brooms and cat & dog beds. As an LGBTQ+ patient, you should be able to expect the same high-quality care provided to all patients. Unfortunately, this doesn’t necessarily always prove to be the case. There remains a notoriously significant disparity in healthcare outcomes for LGBTQ+ patients, often related to issues with discrimination among providers.

Even when you find a good physician, this doesn’t mean that everyone interacting with your healthcare information will be as respectful or responsible. It is, therefore, important to be vigilant about how your data is handled. You have a right to privacy just as you have an expectation of fair treatment.
