Your Gay Week(end) 9/13-9/19

Forget superstitions—there is plenty to do when Your Gay Weekend kicks off on Friday the 13th. From an 8th Anniversary Party at Trax and the Miss Tennessee Gay America pageant to a Sunday Funday hike with the Middle Tennessee OUTsiders and Taylor Swift (for three nights), we break down some of the gayest things to do through September 19th.

Friday September 13

So it’s Friday the 13th. No one would blame you if you popped a huge bowl of popcorn and settled in for a marathon screening of your favorite horror series. Might I suggest catching up on American Horror Story before the new season starring Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, Patty LuPone and Angela Bassett debuts in October?

If you’re not the superstitious type than you might want to check out Bianca Nicole as the special Playmate at Play Dance Bar’s weekend show. For a full list of drag shows happening around the city, check out this month’s Nashville Untucked here.

Looking for another Friday night option? Then make sure you stop by The Stirrup Friday evening starting at 9 p.m. for the Nashville Conductors monthly beer bust. This month’s event is called “A Little Conductor Decadence.” Click here for more details.

Saturday September 14

Help local bar Trax celebrate their 8th Year Anniversary on Saturday September 14 with performances by Charlie Brown, Trinity Monroe and Giselle Nicole. Party starts at 10 p.m. and ends . . . well does it ever really end? Happy Birthday Trax!

Looking for a music fix? Check out SISU Saturday night at Exit/In. SISU is Sandy Vu, maybe better known as the drummer for the The Dum Dum Girls. Vu steps out from behind the kit to showcase her shoegaze take on electro and dreamy vocals. SISU is getting ready to release their debut album Blood Tears September 17 and is for fans of the Karen O. Hear new track “Harpoon.” Tickets available here.

SHOREHAM, VT (September 13, 2023) — WhistlePig Whiskey, the leaders in independent craft whiskey, and Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake are waving the checkered flag on a legend-worthy release that’s taking whiskey to G-Force levels. The Limited Edition PiggyBack Legends Series: Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is a high Rye Whiskey selected by the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake drivers, with barrels trialed in their wind tunnel to ensure a thrilling taste in every sip.

The third iteration in WhistlePig’s Single Barrel PiggyBack Legends Series, the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake Barrel is bottled at 96.77 proof, a nod to Valtteri Bottas’ racing number, 77, and the precision of racing. Inspired by Zhou Guanyu, the first Chinese F1 driver, this Rye Whiskey is finished with lychee and oolong tea. Herbal and floral notes of the oolong tea complement the herbaceous notes of WhistlePig’s signature PiggyBack 100% Rye, rounded out with a juicy tropical fruit finish and a touch of spice.

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
