In a press release issued today, a "Nasty Women Unite Rally" is being held in Kansas City at Washington Square Park near Crown Center.  In their press release they say, "This election cycle has exposed and unleashed an unacceptable, misogynistic tone in America’s narrative. Liz Shuler, the highest ranking women official in the labor movement, representing 6.8 million working women, is rallying with Sen. Claire McCaskill, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, II, the Missouri State Women’s Political Caucus, the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus, local women leaders and the women of the Greater Kansas City region at the Nasty Women Unite Rally. On Saturday, November 5, men and women will come together to stand in solidarity against the misogyny, vile attitude, and general disregard for women that is playing out in this election cycle."

This election cycle, Shuler is touring the country, including several visits to Missouri, speaking out about the issues that impact working families, and empowering women in the electoral process through the newly launched Women in the Breakroom program. She is also advocating for the Democratic and Republican candidates that will rewrite the rules to level the playing field, building a better life for all working people. In Missouri, Amendment 6 for threatens this power at the ballot box for everyone, and especially women, veterans, people of color, and seniors, making it a prominent topic of her work in-state.

The Nasty Women Unite Rally will begin at Noon today, November 5, at Washington Square Park, Grand Blvd. and Pershing Rd., Kansas City, Mo. 64108

Speakers include:  U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, II, AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Liz Shuler, Missouri State Representative Judy Morgan, Jackson County Legislator Crystal Williams, City Councilwomen Jolie Justus and Alissia Canady

Nurse Practitioner Ari Kravitz

When I started medical transition at 20 years old, it was very difficult to get the care I needed for hormone replacement therapy because there are very few providers trained in starting hormones for trans people, even though it’s very similar to the hormones that we prescribe to women in menopause or cisgender men with low testosterone.

I hope more providers get trained in LGBTQ+ healthcare, so they can support patients along their individual gender journey, and provide the info needed to make informed decisions about their body. I’ve personally seen my trans patients find hope and experience a better quality of life through hormone replacement therapy.
