Nashville Children's Theatre is offering summer drama workshops, June 4 through August 3, running daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Camps will be held at the University School of Nashville, and tuition rates are $140 to $355.

Each workshop ends with a sharing for family and friends. Upon completion every student will receive a certificate, NCT T-shirt and a free ticket to a NCT production. All instructors are professional teaching artists who have appeared in various NCT productions. Extended before and after-hours care is available with limited enrollment.  

Youth Performance Ensemble (Rising grades 7-12)
June 11-15 and July 2-6
Students apply the skills learned in earlier classes and develop talents and confidence in the process of rehearsing and performing a short play. This class explores the director/actor relationship and investigates the arc and rhythm of a complete play.
Pre-requisite: Advanced Theatre Voyagers or comparable experience

Theatre Ninjas: Stage Combat 1 (Rising grades 5-12)
June 4-8
Students learn the basics of stage combat through hand-to-hand combat, with no weapons, laying groundwork for advance work in Stage Combat 2.
Pre-requisite: Advanced Theatre Voyagers or comparable experience

Theatre Ninjas: Stage Combat 2 (Rising grades 5-12)
July 9-13
Students will refine the techniques professionals use to stage safe and effective conflicts on stage and screen. Emphasis will be given to the safe use of low-impact weapons such as quarter-staves.
Pre-requisite: Stage Combat 1
Acting 1: Contemporary Scenework (Rising grades 5-12)
June 25-29
Participants explore emotional and sensory recall as well as other critical acting methods.
Pre-requisite: Advanced Theatre Voyagers or comparable experience

Musical Theatre 1 (Rising grades 5-12)
June 11-22 (Two-week session)
Students will have the opportunity to learn about vocal technique, song interpretation and dance from some of Nashville‚s finest performers and teachers.
Pre-requisite: Advanced Theatre Voyagers or comparable experience

Musical Theatre 2: The Rock Musical (Rising grades 5-12)
June 25-July 6 (Two-week session)
This class builds on the skills developed in Musical Theatre 1, and will focus on selections from rock musicals such as The Who's "Tommy," "RENT," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Hairspray."

Post-Covid travel planning
