Introducing the Black Rain Pepper Mill
When in the kitchen, the best thing you can do is use fresh ingredients. Restaurants don't always use the pre-ground black pepper you find in the grocery store. Most of them will grind their own pepper as well as finish a dish with freshly ground pepper. Pepper is just as important as salt and can add a depth of flavor to just about any dish.
I tested the silver model of the Black Rain Pepper Mill and I have to say, it was pretty awesome. It's made from solid aluminum and features a one-button operation, 5 preset grind options, an LED light, and a rechargeable battery. The pepper grinder can hold up to 2 ounces of peppercorns and can grind 3/4 teaspoon of finely ground pepper every 5 seconds or 1 1/2 teaspoons of coarsely ground pepper.
I use it quite a bit and leave it sitting on the dining table and the best part was when my husband went to use it for the first time, he shouted "OMG, it has a light!" He is definitely a pepper lover and it's one of the first things he grabs when it's time to eat.

The Black Rain weighs just over 22 ounces and is 7 inches tall, 2.62 inches wide at the base, and 2 inches at the top. The heft of the model is impressive. It's definitely durable and will last quite a while. Here are a few more specs that really make the grinder stand out.
Powering the Pepper Mill
The pepper mill is equipped with a high torque motor and a high-energy lithium battery for long-lasting life. The motor is capable of grinding down even the toughest of peppercorns with ease.
LED Lights
The LED lights are located on the bottom of the grinder and have a brightness power of 138 lumens and work as soon as you push the power button and begin grinding. You can grind pepper with ease in any type of low ambient light situation such as a romantic candlelight dinner.
Coarseness Settings
You can adjust the coarseness of each grind by simply a turn of the dial. You can have a consistent grind every time by using any one of the 5 preset settings offering grinds between fine to extra coarse.
Recharging
Remembering to charge your grinder is simple. When there are 20 minutes left on the battery, a red LED light will illuminate near the power button. The powerful lithium battery can operate the grinder continuously for 6 hours on the fine grind setting, and 8 hours if you use the coarse setting.
How Do You Use the Black Rain Pepper Mill?
This isn't your run-of-the-mill pepper grinder. This "machine" takes less time and work to get freshly ground pepper on your food. Using the Black Rain Peper Mill is as easy as 1-2-3 (okay, and 4).
- Charge the battery. (It does come with a little power but will need to be fully charged)
- Twist open the hopper and fill it with your choice of peppercorns
- Set your desired grind coarseness
- Press the button for automatic grinding and watch your food literally be peppered with, well, pepper.
You can use the fine-grind setting for sauces or the extra coarse setting for items like steaks, rubs, and salads. It will depend on your preferred taste but you have 5 settings to choose from!
Is It Worth the Price?
Pepper mills are expensive to begin with and they tend to take a bit of work in order for them to grind pepper. With this pepper mill, you just have to remember 2 things: charging it and refilling it. The push button makes it a breeze to use and could very well be the last pepper grinder you will need to purchase.
It is beautiful as well as functional and while it is expensive, even with the discounts, it's well worth the buy. It's a quality product that is sure to last you years.
