Winnett resigns as Nashville CARES Chief Development Officer

As you may or may not know, I came to Nashville CARES a little over two years ago because of a true passion for educating the public about HIV to raise awareness in honor of a friend I had in Virginia. Because of my lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS I unintentionally made him feel inferior for living with the disease when he dropped a wine glass, cut his hand and his blood was going all over our kitchen. I went into mass panic about contracting the disease or being near his blood. Once I learned more about the disease, I realized that no person living with HIV/AIDS should be made to feel that way and no “educated human being” should be uneducated about this disease or make others feel inferior because of it. I still today believe that HIV/AIDS prevention education is the #1 method to stopping the spread and ending this epidemic!

Nashville CARES really makes an impact in OUR community as a whole and especially for the 2,400 clients living with HIV/AIDS that receive a full array of services. I am proud to have served as part of this team. That being said, after careful evaluation I have decided it is simply time for me to move on to a new endeavor. My last day with Nashville CARES will be next Thursday, October 24th. However; I will be remaining in Nashville as the new Chief Development & External Affairs Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee (new contact info below) starting on November 1st.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the support you have offered me during my 2 years with Nashville CARES. I look forward to continuing our relationship in my new role.
