Vanderbilt Rites of Spring Festival returns bigger than ever

Year after year, Vanderbilt Programming Board's Music Group has continually provided students and the community with the freshest artists in modern music at the annual Rites of Spring Music Festival.  This year is no exception.  The Rites of Spring Music Festival will take place on Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19, and has become a “must attend” on the southeast festival circuit.

Vanderbilt Programming Board's Music Group, as always, brings an eclectic group of up-and-coming artists and an impressive mix of well-established college favorites to the show. Whether it’s the catchy tunes of singer-songwriter and guitarist Colbie Caillat from her popular debut album “Coco,” producer/rapper Lil Jon’s big beats and crunk style, the high energy and infectious spirit of Nashville-based Old Crow Medicine Show, the Jazzy, alternative, folk-tinged appeal of Canadian songstress Feist or the Austin, TX trio of Spoon with their critically-acclaimed indie-pop, the Rites of Spring is a must-see show. They are proud to present the initial line-up for the 2008 Rites of Spring Music Festival and headliners and additional amazing artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

"We strive to bring the best music to Vanderbilt University and Nashville and are very pleased with this year's Rites of Spring line-up,” said David Silverstein, co-chair of the Vanderbilt Programming Board’s Music Group.  “The weekend will be packed with fantastic artists and bands ranging from rock to hip-hop, and we anticipate a great festival.”
