Each year, Lambda brings speakers, films, and panels to Vanderbilt's campus to promote GLBT awareness and education. This year's programming includes a film from director, writer, and Vanderbilt alumna Ky Dickens (class of 2000) and spoken word artist and author Staceyann Chin.
The events this week are:
Monday, March 22 - 7:00pm, SLC Board of Trust Room
A FREE screening of FISH OUT OF WATER - a critically acclaimed documentary exploring the seven Bible passages most frequently used to condemn homosexuality and justify marriage discrimination. The director's own coming out experience here at Vanderbilt prompted this journey to examine the relationship between homosexuality and the Bible. The film blends animation, LGBTQI community interviews, and expert analysis from theologians across the country, rendering this polarizing subject accessible and non-threatening.
Followed by a discussion and reception with Vanderbilt alumna (Class of 2000), producer/director Ky Dickens.
Tuesday, March 23 - 8:00pm, SLC Board of Trust Room
Spoken word performance by STACEYANN CHIN - award winning LGBT activist, spoken word artist, and author. Widely known for her co-authorship and performance in the Tony Award winning, Def Poetry Jam on Broadway, and for her book, The Other Side of Paradise.
A reception and book signing will follow the performance.
Wednesday, March 24 - 8:00pm - Commons 235
Lecture: “HIV Vaccines and the LGBT Community" presented by Vic Sorrel of the VUMC HIV Vaccine Program.
Learn about the science behind the development of an HIV vaccine, and the clinical trials currently taking place right here at Vanderbilt and across the world, as scientists and educators collaborate in the search for a safe and effective vaccine against HIV/AIDS.
Thursday, March 25 - 8:00pm, Buttrick 112
"Out and Greek” - a panel discussion with the brothers of Delta Lambda Phi.
Learn how Vanderbilt’s first fraternity for gay, bisexual, and progressive men came into existence and became a part of the Vanderbilt Greek community - from its earliest inspiration to its colonization on campus, hear the experiences, trials, tribulations, and triumphs from the founding brothers themselves.

Rainbow ReVU PRIDE Banquet and Celebration
