Los Angeles based actor Richard Moll, best known as the big bald bailiff named Bull on TV's Night Court, makes his way to the Nashville stage this month as he tackles the lead role in The Foreigner at The Nashville Dinner Theatre.
The Nashville Dinner Theatre is the new name for the super-successful dinner theatre program at The Senior Center for the Arts, located at 108 Donelson Pike, where a four course dinner and show is always only $20.
In over 30 years as an actor in motion pictures and television, Moll has starred in over sixty feature films including The Flintstones, Scary Movie 2 and Schwarzenegger's Jingle All The Way and seventy television shows including Smallville, Married With Children, Lavergne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy and Happy Days.
In Larry Shue's The Foreigner, Moll plays an extremely shy British tourist who happens upon a fishing lodge in rural Georgia where, in order to avoid having to be "sociable", he convinces the guests that he doesn't speak english. He quickly finds out what kind of secrets lie behind a southern drawl as the guests start over-sharing information while the "foreigner" is in the room.
"I laughed out loud as I read the play," admits Moll who arrived in Nashville on September 17 to begin rehearsals. "I love live theatre, and getting to spend a month in Nashville working on this crazy character is a real treat for me."
Moll has also just completed two feature films set for theatres later this year, The Christmas Cottage with Peter O'Toole and Marcia Gay Harden and a horror film, The Headless Horseman, which he filmed in Romania with Director Anthony Ferrante.
"Moll is going to bring the house down in this role," admits Kaine Riggan, the show's Director and co-founder of The Senior Center for the Arts. "I can't figure out if I'm Moll's director or student. He brings so much to that stage, I have no doubt that everyone will walk out of here just as I do every night, a Richard Moll fan."
The Foreigner opens October 5 and runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through October 19. Dinner is served one hour prior to those showtimes . In addition to Richard Moll's headlining in The Foreigner, Grammy winner Jeannie Seely and Helen Cornelius will star in The Nashville Dinner Theatre's next production, Could It Be Love, opening November 2. Tickets are now on sale for both productions.
