Tracy Morgan to Nashville Pride?

Nashville Pride has extended an invitation to Tracy Morgan to attend this weekend's Nashville Pride festival.

GLAAD announced yesterday that the entertainer will return to Tennessee next week where he will apologize to audience members who were offended by his remarks.

"If he's coming back to Nashville to apologize at the scene of his 'crime',  says Nashville Pride Secretary & Marketing Director Joey Leslie, "why wouldn't he jump at the opportunity to redeem himself among thousands of GLBT people and their allies? We're keeping our fingers crossed that he decides to join us on June 18 for what promises to be our best festival to date."

So far, Morgan has not responded to the invitation.

Nashville Pride's official invitation to Tracy Morgan:

Nashville Pride would like to extend an invitation for Tracy Morgan to attend the 23rd annual Nashville Pride Festival on Saturday, June 18. He would have the opportunity to "clear the air" with the GLBT community in Nashville and abroad from the festival main stage.

We know he's taken a lot of heat both from the press and from the likes of beloved Tina Fey, NBC and Human Rights Campaign — and we fully support each of their statements. This is an opportunity for Tracy to untarnish his brand, make amends to the GLBT community and its allies and prove he's not the homophobe he appeared to be during the recent hurtful and disturbing 'comedy' routine performed at Music City's historic Ryman Auditorium on June 3.

We invite him to move beyond a simple apology and show true remorse with action, proving that he truly believes his comedy crossed the line. We hope he can join Nashville's gay community of thousands and present the Tracy Morgan his GLBT fans know and love from SNL and 30Rock, and in doing so, can let positive actions speak louder than his hurtful words.

Sincerely.
