As we gear up for spring, you can expect your social calendar to start filling up faster. With a beautiful weekend and no rain (so far) in the forecast, O&AN presents this week's Top Gay Things to Do in and around Nashville.

Wednesday April 9

Wicked at TPAC

There is something wicked happening in Nashville. It's quite popular and it defies gravity . . . it's none other than Wicked playing now through April 20 at TPAC. The show and cast is spectacular and showcased their off-stage personalities (some shirtless) at the Broadway CARES/Equity Fights AIDS and Nashville CARES event 'Wicked After Dark' at Play Dance Bar on Monday.

Check out Wicked cast member Shayla Beck as she delivers a rousing performance of "Let it Go," the runaway hit from Disney's Frozen.

Thursday April 10

Transgender Drop-In

The 2014 Trans 100 list was unveiled on Monday and every second Thursday of each month, OutCentral hosts Transgender Drop-in. Come chat with Vickie Davis, one of the leaders of the Tennessee Vals, a transgender support group here in Nashville.

Vickie will facilitate an informal discussion for anyone that wants to talk about any and all things transgender. So anyone that wants to participate just show up, and let's chat, whether you are trans or not.

MTSU LGBTQ+ College Conference

MTSU’s Lambda organization continues to celebrate milestones. Last fall, the student-led organization celebrated its 25th anniversary, and this month launch their inaugural LGBT+ College Conference. The conference will span three days from April 10-12. Sessions will cover a diverse variety LGBT+ issues including: community engagement, political activism, transgender issues and more. Friday April 11

Music City Sisters' present H8'a Drag

Now in its third year, the Music City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (MCS) are celebrating the weekend-long H8's a Drag. The annual anti-bullying event serves as a benefit for the organization’s LGBTQIA Youth Fund. This year’s theme, Love TRANSforms Fear, places focus on transphobia, bullying, suicide and related hate crimes in the transgender community.

This year, MCS is excited to have two featured stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race. Season 5 Puerto Rican knockout Lineysha Sparx will headline, alongside DP House Party Hostess and PLAYmate,The Princess, an alumna of Season 3.  

The event also includes a Saturday youth dance and Sunday Potluck Brunch.

Nashville Grizzlies Bachelor Auction

Theatre: Ultrasound

Join O&AN when Playhouse Nashville presents the world premiere staging of local playwright Garret Schneider's Ultrasound. When Maddy announces to her partner Jolene that she's pregnant, the anticipation of the baby's arrival causes Jolene to have serious doubts about her ability to be a parent. Once the bundle of joy arrives -- full of demands, needs, and wants -- Jolene's lifelong struggle to connect with something other than her work is literally in her hands. LOL Nashville Improv Show

LGBT-inclusive comedy troupe performs their monthly Improv Show on Saturday, April 12. The shows take place at 12th and Porter at 7 and 10 p.m.. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For more information, visit the LOL Nashville Facebook page

Club MTV 90s Party at Canvas

Tuesday April 15

Melissa Etheridge in concert

The newly independent artist brings her catalog of tunes, including new ones from her yet-to-be-released independent album, to Nashville on April 15. Out & About Nashville chatted with the veteran star about activism throughout her career, collaborations with producers and writers who’ve worked with Eminem, Kesha, Demi Lovato and more for her forthcoming record and when she’s tying the knot with partner Linda Wallem.
