“Too Unpredictable”, a fashion show fundraiser for Nashville’s GLBT Chamber of Commerce, has raised more than $17,000 for the non-profit chamber.
It was considerably more than the amount raised in last year’s inaugural “Unpredictable” show, which raised $14,925.
Held on April 22 at Play Dance Club, the event brought unpredictable fashion from local stores that included Betty Badd Couture featuring Duff, Bloke, Joe, Nashville Clothing Company and Smack. Ideal Catering catered the food before the show.
“I want to say thank you once again to everyone involved with “Too Unpredictable,” said John Wade, president of the NGLBTCC. “The amount of money raised is absolutely amazing and it could not have happened without the hard work of so many of our chamber members and support from the community.”
The money will be used by the chamber to promote gay and gay-supportive businesses.
"To have funds on hand to promote GLBT and GLBT supportive business gives us tremendous advantages and for that reason, the board continues to carefully examine each opportunity as it is presented,” Wade said. “For now, we are focused on immediate member needs; things such as new member kits, lunch and learn seminars for small businesses and perhaps a chamber directory."
Michael Fluck and Jerry Jones co-chaired the event; Bud East produced the show. Jonathan Pinkerton oversaw the silent auction as the silent auction chair; Chris Nadeau chaired the committee that recruited and worked with the fashion stores.

Wade praised the work of the co-chairs, and other volunteers that helped make the event possible, saying it was the most participated event by chamber members than any before.
“I must give special thanks to co-chairs, Michael Fluck and Jerry Jones, along with Jonathan Pinkerton, Chris Nadeau and Bud East,” he added. “Much work falls on the chair(s) and rarely is that recognized. These guys worked hard and spent many, many hours to make the event the huge success that it was. Their hard work paid off and we are extremely grateful.”
Wade also thanked Play Dance Club for donating the space for the event, and their staff who worked hard to handle the large crowd. He also acknowledged the many sponsors, as well as those individuals and businesses who contributed more than $20,000 in silent auction items.
“We are fortunate to have the support that we do from so many businesses within and outside the community,” he said. “I want to encourage the community to recognize their support by choosing their services for our own personal and professional needs. We also appreciate the more than 100 business and individuals that donated items for the silent auction. The community support for this event has been tremendous.”
