To eat or not to eat

Love.  Four little letters that can cause so much pain or joy in one’s life. With this being February, I refuse to discuss where to find it, because love still eludes me. Instead, I am focusing on where to take your loved one out in the big city.

Instead of the typical “gay” restaurant, our area, I encourage everyone who is partaking in Valentine’s Day to bring themselves out in the open (that is if your job wouldn’t be at risk, etc.). Nashville has two hidden gem restaurants, which you and your loved one can explore.

The first one, is “The Yellow Porch” located on 734 Thompson Lane which is near the renovated 100 Oaks Mall. The porch says it all during the Spring/Summer. During the winter, is where the magic takes place. Indoors is a nice dark restaurant with mood lighting, intimate tables, and candles. The atmosphere is like the movie “Lady and the Tramp.” Light music in the background, a filet mignon which will melt in your mouth and not in your hand, and tiramisu to die for will help make this a night to never forget.

If one wants to stay closer to the “gay” part of Nashville, I would suggest trying The Mad Platter on 1239 6th Avenue North. Right in the heart of Nashville’s Germantown, one can find this jewel. Inside is a nice laid back restaurant with an artistic feel due to the books on the shelves and natural wood ceilings. With yet another tiramisu that feels my own need for love, the main dish being “The Pasta Mad Platter” with chicken is a Nashville must.

While, I can only recommend what it’s like to be single and celebrate life with my friends at these restaurants, I will promise when I do find that someone special, we will be frequenting these local places.
