Three GLBT programs awarded $6,300 by the Brooks Fund

The Brooks Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has distributed $6,300 in grants to three nonprofit organizations that are working in the GLBT community as part of The Foundation’s annual grant making process.

“We are thrilled that this year, thanks to the success of our fundraising efforts, especially our travel auction, that we were able to award a total of $6,300 to three excellent local organizations that will help fund programs that will have tremendous benefit to our local GLBT community,” said Mike Smith, president of the Brooks Fund Board of Directors. “Since its inception, the Brooks Fund's purpose is to allow like minded individuals the opportunity to work together to fund programs that will make a difference. We all can take a lot of pride in what we have accomplished this year.”

The following organizations have received the 2006 grants:

  • The Nashville Film Festival—To help promote and produce the GLBT portion of the film festival.
  • The Tennessee Equality Project—To provide public discourses on issues affecting the GLBT community, specifically targeting areas outside of metro Nashville.
  • YWCA—To continue outreach efforts to GLBT communities on domestic violence.

Any organization wishing to apply for a 2007 grant should visit The Community Foundation’s Web site at www.cfmt.org. The grant application deadline is May 1, 2007.
