Music Valley Event Center continues its newly launched "After Dark" series of shows with The Eight: Reindeer Monologues by Jeff Goode, which features eight actors as Santa's reindeer dishing about the real Kris Kringle.
Directed by Nashville theater regulars Zach Parker and Angela Gimlin, this late night offering at Music Valley Event Center includes a menagerie of Nashville’s best and brightest performers. “I think people are going to be impressed, but also a bit shocked about this very non-traditional telling of Santa and his eight tiny reindeer,” says Gimlin, who admits this is her first stint as a director. O&AN readers may be familiar with Gimlin, who regularly provided weekly recaps from the most recent two seasons of the Nashville TV show (and will return when the show resumes on CMT). She has spent the last ten years acting, and thinks this is a fitting production for her directorial debut. “I have Zach, who has directed before, to tell me what to do and when I am messing up,” she says with a laugh.
With Parker taking the role of the flamboyant Cupid and Gimlin portraying the saucy Vixen, the cast also includes Andrea Michelle Crowe as unwavering Blitzen, Austin Jeffrey Smith playing Dasher (the leader), Michael Rex as the loyal to a fault Comet, David Williams in the heartbreaking role of Donner, Kathryn Sutton as rattled reindeer Dancer and Matt Smith as the arrogant "Hollywood" (Prancer).
The show, which is for 18+, opens November 26th, 2016 and plays every Friday and Saturday night at Music Valley Event Center through December 17th. Doors open at 10 PM and all performances begin at 10:30 PM. Beer, wine and snacks will be available for purchase. Dinners are not offered.
