Legendary comedian, writer and actor Bill Cosby is coming to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center for a limited, two-show engagement as part of the TPAC Presents series.
Best known for his family-friendly, insightful and frequently hilarious observations about human nature, this American icon will take the stage of Andrew Jackson Hall on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 4 and 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Sunday, July 27, at 10 a.m.

A Philadelphia native, Cosby rose to fame in the mid-sixties on the success of his numerous comedy recordings, eight of which were certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and five of which earned him Grammy Awards for “Best Comedy Album.” His stints in television on “I Spy” and the original “The Bill Cosby Show” endeared him to a wealth of new fans, but it was the phenomenal critical and popular success of the 1984-92 “The Cosby Show” that cemented his place in American pop culture history.
The recipient of a Kennedy Center Honor and a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Cosby is also the respected author of the books “Fatherhood” and “Time Flies,” the former being the fastest-selling hardcover book of all time upon its release in May 1986.
Cosby’s comedy routine continues to be such a success because it relies on the same everyman humor that has brought him success since day one. He pinpoints instances in our ordinary world and interprets them as recognizable slices of life. Without resorting to gimmickry or lowbrow humor, he gives the twist of the ridiculous to our common faults, foibles and successes.
