Their day jobs may range from television anchor to etiquette expert, but this summer, 17 well-known locals will all share the same job: actor.
Several prominent Nashville figures will get their chance in the spotlight as they make a cameo appearance in the role of The Herald in the Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s production of Shakespeare in the Park. Each performance night, audiences will see a different local celebrity in the role. Mayor Karl Dean filled the role on Aug. 21.
The Nashville Shakespeare Festival has confirmed that TEP President, Chris Sanders will be playing the walk on roll of The Herald in the Thursday night, Sept. 4, performance of Coriolanus at the Centenial Park band shell.
“It’s great to have Mayor Dean and these other local stars as guest actors,” said Nancy VanReece, executive director of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival. "The TEP "endorsement" of Coriolanus simply rocked the Roman empire. We appreciate the support of our mission to bring Shakespearean experiences to the people of Middle Tennessee. Nashville is a city that treasures its Shakespeare in the Park and these representatives are examples of that enthusiasm.”

The Nashville Shakespeare Festival will present Shakespeare’s tragedy Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. ending Sunday, Sept. 7. Vendors open at 6 p.m. and pre-show entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. The shows are free and open to the public. Suggested donation is $5. The mission of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival is to educate and entertain the Mid-South community through professional Shakespearean experiences.
