Street Works and Project Uno offer HIV testing at OutCentral

Street Works is excited to announce the launch of the free and confidential HIV testing initiative being offered by Project UNO, the new MSM program of Street Works. This testing will be available at OutCentral, Nashville’s LGBT Cultural Center. Testing will be offered Monday-Wednesdays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and Thursdays from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m..

Street Works' mission is to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to provide care and support services for those infected and affected through outreach, education, and advocacy in the communities of greatest risk. The mission of Project UNO is to empower and equip today’s men who have sex with men with essential needs to impact their purpose in life. The UNO mission is to challenge and engage these men to find strength on their own using the five S’s: Strength, Safe, Self Purpose, Sober, and Status.

“Project UNO is finally making a strong presence on Church Street with free HIV testing twelve hours a week at OutCentral. Get tested, and learn the importance of your HIV status,” said David Long, Project UNO Coordinator.

This is Street Works first testing site strategically targeted and geared toward the LGBT community, and this is OutCentral's first time since opening as an LGBT center in 2008 to facilitate the space for HIV testing weekly. “OutCentral values awareness as much as it does diversity, and we are thrilled that Project UNO is able to make this service available to the community both organizations serve,” said Joe Morris, OutCentral Board Chair.

Street Works Project UNO is located at OutCentral in the heart of midtown Nashville, next to Canvas and Vibe at 1709 Church Street. There is plenty of metered parking in the street out front and free parking located on the surrounding streets.
