The Sommet Center was filled with dance enthusiasts last month when “Dancing with the Stars” the Tour arrived in Nashville.
The giant ice rink was been transformed into a classy Ballroom style dance floor and the scene was complete with giant screens, risers and some of the most gorgeous dancers to ever grace the stage.
I have to admit that I was most drawn to one dancer: Lance Bass. Formerly or N’Sync, Mr. Bass has recently been a great advocate for GLBT rights and a strong supporter for our causes. He was not alone; the cast was made up of several wonderful entertainers.
Number two on my list of must see performers was Toni Braxton. I can remember the days of The Connection with hundreds of guys dancing to her dance remixes while looking for their next conquest. I was sure that tonight’s performance would wow me just the same.
The costumes were just as amazing as they were on the television show from the beginning when a group dance number kicked off the show first with all of the professional dancers and then the “Stars”.
It is amazing how well some of these celebrities can shake their groove thing! Toni Braxton also sang two of her biggest hits, Un-break My Heart and Breathe Again, while the dancers did their thing on the dance floor. She didn’t dance much, but I guess when you have pipes like those who needs to dance.
Lance was so cute. I was hoping to see him dance with one of the hottie guy dancers, but it didn’t happen, but they did poke fun at him and played an old N’Sync song while we danced with his partner. Lance made a great reference to Cloris Leechman at the beginning of the show, and how much he enjoyed being on the show with her. I do have to say, I was hoping to see her with the rest of them.
The dancers took turns with their partners and the host dancers did an amazing job. The entire crowd was coming up out of their seats by intermission. Several dance houses from Nashville were there to represent one of many talents found in Music City. The dancers were totally into pleasing the audience; at times they would incorporate the fans into the act. I was lucky enough to have some great stage-side floor seats. The dancers were literally only feet away from our table during the electrifying performance.
