Softball Update

The 2006 Music City Softball season is off to a great start in Nashville this year. The D division is much larger this year and there are some teams already showing improvement. The April 27 th games started out with the Shock defeating the newly formed Trax team. The Trax team shows a lot of potential sporting nice new uniforms and a whole lot of talent. Once the team gets more accustomed to playing together they will be a very competitive team.

The second game was between the Master Batters and the Mustangs. The Mustangs are in the second year of existence and actually a few of the players have played together for three years now. Their familiarity of playing together showed in this game against the rookie team Master Batters. The Master Batters gave the Mustangs a run for their money, but in the end, the experience of the Mustangs spawn ed a 11-6 victory. This was the Mustangs first win for the season.

The third game was between the Master Batters and the Bruins, which are both rookie teams to the league; however, there are some veteran players on both teams. The Master Batters clicked in this game. Even with their starting pitcher missing , their second sting pitcher did a great job. The gloves of the Master Batters finally started getting hot making their defense shine. The Master Batters pulled out their first win of the season with a convincing win over the Bruins to a score of 19-4. Keep an eye on this team by the end of the season they will be a force to be reckoned with. Due to some prior commitments the Trax could not play their second game therefore forfeiting to the Mustangs.

The final game was the experienced Nashville Shock against the newly formed Bruins. The Bruins had to play back to back and the lack of experience hurt their stamina during this game. Their pitchers were having trouble in this game walking 11 batters. The bats of the Nashville Shock then got hot and the experience of the veteran S hock softball team won out with a convincing 22-1 Shock victory.

Overall the league is still growing and there were 4 new players added to the rosters today. So if you love the game of softball you really need to come on out to Two River ’s next Sunday and sign up to get on a team. There are still some teams that need to build their rosters to help fill the gaps when players have to take their vacations. This is a fun league and whether you are a veteran of softball or a rookie there is a division for you. You may also get more information about the league at www.musiccitysoftball.com.

The games are played at the Two Rivers Park adjacent McGavock High School on McGavock Pike. The first games are scheduled at 1:00 with the final games starting at 5:00 . There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome to come and watch the games. There is bleacher seating at all fields.
