Skin is back in at Freshly Unpredictable

Updated Thursday, March 4.

The sole, annual fundraiser for the Nashville GLBT Chamber of Commerce has been bringing together locally-established retailers, designers, models and spectators for four years.

This year’s event planners have a new, scantily-clad twist in store for the fifth trip down the runway for Freshly Unpredictable.

“The event is a huge crowd-pleaser every year, but last year we heard some feedback about a lack of skin on the runway,” said Jerry Jones, co-chair. “This year, we came up with an exciting way to please the crowd and get local guys involved.”

Event co-chairs Jones and Michael Fluck have teamed up with Instinct Magazine in a contest to find the hottest local male underwear models to earn a spot on the runway in a variety of barely-there undies.

As part of Out & About Newspaper’s sponsorship commitment, there will be a special section on outandaboutnewspaper.com where contestants will post their photos and a short bio and the public will be able to vote for their favorite model.

Entries will be narrowed down and those potential-models who make the cut will then progress to a live second round of judging at Play Dance Bar.

The contest is free to enter and cash prizes will be awarded to the three men with the most votes. Interested applicants should email a photo and short bio to freshlyunpredictable@nashvilleGLBTchamber.org by March 31 to be entered in the contest.

Freshly Unpredictable will be held at Play Dance Bar (1517 Church St.) on Sunday, April 25, and will be hosted by the comical Daisy Rae Welch. The silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and models will hit the runway at 7 p.m.

General admission tickets will cost $30 at the door or $25 in advance. Tickets for VIP runway seating are limited and cost $60.

Fluck said the fundraiser is possible each year in large part because of the support of event sponsors, many of which are chamber members. In turn, the chamber works to give back to the community and its members.

“As part of the chamber’s mission, we seek first and foremost to utilize partners who are members of the chamber and are involved in giving back to the community,” Fluck said. “This model search is an extension of that outreach by allowing these men at the heart of our community to participate in the show and potentially win money in the process.”

The annual fashion show and silent auction has raised more than $70,000 in the past four years with sold-out crowds and high-dollar items up for bid.
