Relaxation at Magnetic Valley Resort

Deeply in need of a quiet time away, I recently was able to take a short trip to the historic town of Eureka Springs, Ark., nestled in the Ozark Mountains. Eureka Springs has long been an affordable vacation destination, featuring small-town charm, a strong artistic community and a liberal mindset.
Eureka Springs has been listed as one of the hottest gay destinations in the United States. The town boasts more than 50 gay-owned and gay-friendly businesses. My two dogs and I eagerly made plans to spend a few days at the Magnetic Valley Resort.

This men’s resort is picturesque and small, just minutes away from downtown Eureka Springs. Many original structures downtown were built around the Civil War period and they retain some of that charm. The ambience is extremely casual and relaxed.

Alvin Byrd and Charlie Thomas have owned the resort for about three years and have made, and still are making, tremendous improvements. The real star of the resort is a fabulous, clothing-optional saltwater pool snuggled into a hillside along with a hot tub, dry sauna and outdoor showers. Seven rooms are available with private baths, varying in size and price, each with its own style and charm.

The hosts, Byrd and Thomas, work hard to make each guest feel comfortable and relaxed. I was always introduced to everyone and felt included in conversations, a rarity nowadays. Anyone staying at this resort will leave with the feeling of having made new friends.

This is the place to stay if you are looking for a comfortable, laid-back vacation destination. I certainly encourage everyone to make reservations to stay in the near future. I know I will.
