On Wednesday, February 5, at 5:30 PM, the night that Senate Republicans are expected to “acquit” Donald Trump after they blocked key witnesses with incriminating evidence from testifying, protestors will gather at Senator Lamar Alexander’s Nashville office at 3322 West End Avenue as part of the nationwide "Reject The Cover-Up” rallies.
The event is part of a nationwide effort to hold Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers accountable for betraying the American people and the Constitution Protestors will send a clear message to Trump and to GOP senators: Any “acquittal” made after blocking key evidence is not an exoneration—it’s a cover-up. Marquita Bradshaw, Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate, states “Interference in our election is an offense to us all. We make our system work more perfectly by actively participating and holding our elected officials accountable by voting. We build together a greater legacy of America by letting our voices be heard collectively.”
"Senate Republicans have abdicated their responsibility to uncover the ENTIRE truth about Trump’s actions. There is more to be discovered and Congress is the place to do it - it’s why we elected them," says Mary Mancini, Chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party, who will speak at the Reject the Cover-up Nashville event.
More than 225 events are being planned across the country by a large coalition of groups. The Nashville event is being co-hosted by Tennessee Citizen Action, Power Together Women’s March Tennessee, Nashville & Middle TN Indivisible, TN Anti Racist Network and Indivisible Tennessee. A full list of events can be found here.
Speakers in Nashville will include: Mary Mancini, Chair of TNDP; Andy Spears, Director of Tennessee Citizen Action; Marquita Bradshaw, Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate and Conservation Chair for Sierra Club-Memphis; and Mary Linden, President of the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women.
