April 28, 2005
RECEPTION: 5 pm – FORUM: 6 to 8 pm
Fondren Hall - Scarritt-Bennett Center

This event is FREE and OPEN to the public

Fifty years ago, paperboys (and some girls) delivered newspapers to stoops and front porches across the nation. Weeknights, many Americans tuned int to one of three network broadcasts. But three decades of explosive change in media technology have created tens of thousands of news outlets. So...where do you get YOUR news from: Fox, NPR, the local paper, your cable access channel, a Web log or blog? Or do you patch it together your news from different sources?

On April 28, 2005, we invite YOU to particiapte in a NEW DIALOGUE AND MEDIA PROJECT that brings together journalists and the community they cover to dialogue about the the news we need. The topics discussed will relate to WHAT NEWS REPORTERS NEEDN FROM THE COMMUNITY andWHAT NEWS YOU NEED in your everyday here, in Nashville. Participants will screen excerpts from the recently released feature film, “Control Room”, as well as excerpts from the movie “Blogumentary” and several television programs: Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, Flashpoints: Media Today: Truth or Lies?, Media Matters: Welcome to the Blogosphere, and Rich Media, Poor Democracy.
