PFLAG-Nashville joins coalition to fight Kroger discrimination

PFLAG Nashville has joined a growing coalition of community groups and businesses to fight the discriminatory decision of Kroger and DistribuTech to remove Out & About Newspaper (O&AN) from their free distribution racks.

O&AN was removed from both stores on after three weeks May 31, despite having a signed contract with DistribuTech.

PFLAG Nashville joins the Tennessee Equality Project, Nashville GLBT Chamber of Commerce, Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition, Human Rights Campaign steering committee, and Nashville Pride in opposing the move by Kroger. The groups have organized a “save your receipt(s)” campaign to show Kroger, Harris Teeter and DistribuTech the financial impact of the decision.

“We are pleased to announce that PFLAG Nashville supports Out & About Newspaper in the struggle against their wrongful and unjust removal from the shelves at Kroger and Harris Teeter,” said H.G. Stovall, a PFLAG Nashville board member. “We look forward to mobilizing PFLAG Nashville to participate officially in the receipt drive as an advocacy initiative. As you know, PFLAG's three main goals are support, education and advocacy.”
