Out & About Newspaper wins Mosaic Award

Out & About Newspaper is one of the first winners in the American Advertising Federation -Nashville’s first-ever Mosaic Awards.

The Mosaics honor creative approaches to multicultural marketing and advertising. AAF Nashville is the first chapter of the national association to present these awards in a local market.

“We're proud to be recognized for the trailblazing work that our exceptional staff is doing to report on diversity as well as GLBT issues,” said Jerry Jones, publisher of Out & About Newspaper. “We're especially honored for this Mosaic Award recognizing our website, since it is truly the gateway to Tennessee's GLBT community for the world. We appreciate the hard work that Lane Scoggin has done from SBResults in making our website visually appealing and, more importantly, a great interactive tool for our readers.”

O&AN won for its website and multicultural interactive media; other winners were Ibis Communications for its multicultural media usage in a Captain D’s campaign and also for its workforce diversity ad campaign for Pitney Bowes; and GS&F for its multicultural ad campaign for Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.

Local judges of the entries were John Ashworth, MTSU Art Department, Randy Cox, MPH, Tennessee Equality Project chairman, Yuri Cunza, president of Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Thomas A. Negri, general manager, Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

“Our website gives us many tools with which to reach our community,” said Joe Morris, O&AN managing editor. ‘It allows our advertisers to market their products and services online, and gives us the editorial opportunity to break news, provide community information and much more. It gives our print newspaper an entirely different dimension, and we’re pleased to see our work on it recognized by such a notable organization.”

AAF Nashville has more than 150 members from various companies in the advertising, marketing, and communications fields. For more information, visit their website at www.aafnashville.com.
