Oscar de la Renta to make rare Nashville appearance at Symphony Fashion Show

Schermerhorn Symphony Center will once again transform into a New York-style fashion runway, as internationally acclaimed fashion designer Oscar de la Renta and JAMIE, Nashville’s premiere women’s clothing store, present the 2008 Symphony Spring Fashion Show on April 22, 2008.

The designer himself will be on hand to present his 2008 Fall collection to Nashville audiences—a collection that will first be shown during New York’s famed Fashion Week in February.  The emcee for the event will be announced at a later date.

The Symphony Spring Fashion Show, hosted by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra League, begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, highlighted by jewelry from leading designer H.Stern.  The fashion show kicks off at 7:15 p.m. in the Symphony Center’s Laura Turner Concert Hall with an elegant dinner following at 8 p.m.   Holly Anderson Wilds and Jana Joustra Davis are Chairmen of the event.

“With the incredible success of last year’s Symphony Spring Fashion Show, it is exciting for us to bring back the elegant and sophisticated fashions of Oscar de la Renta,” said Lee Beaman, board chair of the Nashville Symphony.  “We are also truly honored that this world-class designer plans to attend the fashion show and personally introduce his collection.  It will be an event not to miss.”

Tickets for the Nashville Symphony’s 2008 Spring Fashion Show are $600 per couple for the entire evening of cocktails, fashion show and dinner, and $250 per couple for cocktails and the fashion show.  To receive an invitation, please contact the Orchestra League office at 615.687.6541.

All proceeds from the Symphony Spring Fashion Show go to the Nashville Symphony’s education and outreach initiatives and to the Thor Johnson Scholarship Fund.  A percentage of all sales of H. Stern jewelry will go to the Nashville Symphony.

JAMIE Nashville has become a purveyor of women’s fashions and was voted by Harper's Bazaar this year as one of the best specialty stores in America.  JAMIE has moved into the national retail spotlight for its development of a large stable of important women’s fashion labels that have been long-standing great selling labels such as Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Dolce and Gabbana, Alberta Ferretti, Prada, Pucci, Etro, and Gucci.

The store JAMIE was started in 1973 by Jamie Stream, who had the vision for introducing designer brands to the woman’s apparel market in Nashville.  Within two years, she was bringing in nationally known designer brands, and women were flocking to her store from not only the Nashville area, but Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia.  Today, as the store developed its offerings, it is now serving customers internationally.
