Oasis Center, a leading provider of youth services in Nashville, recently announced the promotion of T. Allen Morgan to vice president of advancement. The promotion created a new position and a new department at the 39-year-old non profit.
Morgan was Director of Development at Nashville CARES before coming to Oasis and has a decade of experience in nonprofit fundraising and management. In addition to the vice president position, the department added the following positions: director of new initiatives, director of donor relations and a new full-time volunteer coordinator.
Kate Haygood, who recently served as director of marketing and volunteers for Nashville CARES, was recruited to director of donor relations. Kylene Dibble, who previously worked with Oasis Prevention programs, was promoted to the agency's first full-time volunteer coordinator position.
Anderson Williams, former program director of community impact, was named director of new initiatives and will be managing relationships with national foundations and overseeing the agency's contract work with regional and national partners.
In December 2008 Oasis Center will join five other youth-serving non profits to form the Nashville Youth Opportunity Center (NYOC). This collaboration is the first of its kind in Tennessee and will house more than 30 different youth programs under one roof.
Oasis Center CEO Hal Cato created the new department in response to increasing organization complexity and to provide infrastructure for managing and resourcing new partnerships, programs and services at the NYOC.
Oasis Center also added several new members and officers to its Board of Directors. James R. Kelley of Neal & Harwell, is the agency's new board president, succeeding Marjean Coddon, who became immediate past president. Kelley has served three terms on the Oasis Board.
Other new officers include President Elect John H. Steele, of HCA, and Secretary-Treasurer Clyde Ingalls, of BancorpSouth.
New Board members include Pastor William Buchanan, Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church; Kanesha Butler, youth representative and a student at Tennessee State University; Laura Chadwick, community volunteer; Roger Cunningham, Gish Sherwood & Friends; Dr. Angela Franklin, Meharry Medical College; Marcella Gomez, Hispanic Marketing Group; Jason Skinner, CMT; Cal Turner III, Cal IV Entertainment; and Jordan Wright, youth representative, a student at Maplewood High School.
Oasis Center began in 1969 as a drop-in center for young people in crisis. During the past four decades, it has evolved into one of the nation's leading youth-serving organizations, offering safety and intervention to Nashville's most vulnerable youth, while seeking to also teach young people how to transform the conditions that create problems for them in the first place.
