New Puerto Vallarta Hamburger Mary's Shutters

After only nine months, Hamburger Mary's in PuertoVallarta has shuttered. The iconic name brand was home to American cuisine and drag entertainment.

The closure was confirmed by co-owner Susan McKenna to O&APV, a social news publication located in Puerto Vallarta.

McKenna stated that there might be a chance the business could find a new home, but that's not for certain. However, on the restaurant's official Facebook page, they seem more optimistic:

"Hamburger Mary's PVR is moving! We will provide you with more details about our new location soon! STAY TUNED :)"

Hamburger Mary's is an entertainment staple in the drag community. The first venue opened in San Francisco's SoHo district in 1972 and from there has reached 16 other locations in America. Puerta Vallarta was its only international venue.

Located at Basilio Badillo 283 in Zona Romantica, the tri-level restaurant and bar replaced the Original Roberto's. Mary's Puerto Vallarta grand opening happened on April 10, 2021 with Mizz Peaches as the official hostess.

As with most Mary's venues, the location offered nightly drag shows, drink specials and a Sunday brunch.

Each Hamburger Mary's location is locally owned and operated.
