Nashville, Tenn. – The Nashville Symphony has released the schedule and details for its ninth annual Free Day of Music, which will showcase more than 20 different acts performing everything from classical and jazz to rock and bluegrass at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Saturday, September 27.
Performances will run from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. on stages in four locations – Laura Turner Concert Hall, One Symphony Place, the Courtyard Stage and the Curb Family Music Education Hall – giving audiences the chance to hear a wide array of music both indoors and outside free of charge.
“This annual tradition is at the heart of the Nashville Symphony’s mission of delivering outstanding music to everyone in Middle Tennessee,” said Alan Valentine, Symphony president and CEO, who will be performing at Free Day of Music himself as a member of the groups Tyme and Loge Box 1. “We are thrilled to be able to give back to our community, which has shown this organization such tremendous support over the years.”
The GRAMMY® Award-winning Nashville Symphony headlines the event, performing works by Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Tchaikovsky and more during a concert at noon in Laura Turner Concert Hall. Immediately afterward, Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero and Assistant Conductor Vinay Parameswaran will host a “Meet the Conductors” Q&A session for the public in Curb Family Music Education Hall. Also taking place in Laura Turner Concert Hall at 1:45 p.m. will be an organ recital featuring organist Andrew Risinger playing the Symphony’s massive Martin Foundation Concert Organ, which has 3,568 pipes.
The rest of the Free Day of Music lineup features a variety of music styles and a diverse assortment of performers from throughout Middle Tennessee. The full schedule is as follows:
