A little more about NiH's Winter '08 concert...

Nashville In Harmony (NiH), Middle Tennessee’s only city chorus comprised of GLBT people and their friends, has announced its Winter ’08 season concert to be held on two consecutive nights at Vanderbilt’s Sarratt Cinema.

On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12-13, at 7:30 p.m. Nashville In Harmony will present “Over The Bridges and Through The Woods” featuring choral arrangements ranging from pop to a little bit of Broadway, in addition to some traditional holiday favorites.

“Using music to build community and create social change” is the mission statement of Nashville In Harmony - not only to the GLBT community, but to greater Nashville and Middle Tennessee as a whole. Having started with only 18 members in 2004, NiH has seen tremendous growth in its four years of existence.

This season, as a result of an aggressive recruitment and interview process, NiH membership now exceeds 85 men and women. Not only has the chorus achieved a larger and richer sound, it has also achieved greater ethnic diversity within its membership.

“Building Bridges” is the overarching theme for the Winter ’08 and Spring ’09 concert series, and Nashville In Harmony continues to do so having recently performed at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center for the Regions Free Day of Music along with more than two dozen other musical groups.

NiH has also been invited by the Nashville Ballet to perform in the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Jackson Hall Lobby prior to the opening curtain of “The Nutcracker” on December 14.

The highlight of the group’s Spring ’09 season will be collaborative concerts building bridges across state borders by partnering with the Cincinnati Men’s Chorus to host a series of joint concerts to be performed in both Nashville and Cincinnati.
