Trotter signs with WSMV for two more years, celebrates his consecutive Gay Favorites victories
WSMV Channel 4 News Reporter Darian Trotter was elated to receive the coveted “Favorite Local News Reporter” award for the second consecutive year in the 2005 readers Gay Favorites poll in “Out & About Newspaper”.
We caught up with Darian and asked for his comments on the recent win.
“I think it is great to be recognized, noticed, and appreciated for work I am doing for two years in a row,” he said. Trotter has more than that one reason to celebrate. WSMV recently signed Trotter to a new two-year contract, insuring that he’ll report on the news for Nashvillians for a while longer.
Trotter has received numerous other awards for his expert investigative reporting segments, and was nominated for an Emmy this year. His sharp, yet trendy dress style has attracted a niche following among the WSMV Channel 4 News audience.
“What I do has allowed different people to become interested in local news and build viewer ship,” he said when asked about his fashion.

Balo named East Bureau Sales Manager
Paul Balo has been named sales manager of the East Bureau of “Out and About Newspaper”.
"Paul’s hard work and dedication not only to Out and About Newspaper, but to the GLBT community as a whole is well known," said Beth Maples-Bays, East Tennessee Bureau Chief.
Balo was recently named president of the Greater Knoxville Chapter of Parents and Friends (PFLAG) of Lesbians and Gays and will continue his role as a photographer for the East Tennessee Bureau of O&AN.
"We are proud to name him sales manager for all of East Tennessee," said Jerry Jones, publisher of “Out & About Newspaper.” "Paul will be able to provide exceptional service as we continue to grow in the Eastern part of Tennessee. We're delighted that he will provide the leadership necessary for the sales team."

Nashville's GLBT Life and Business Expo – mark your calendar to win cash and prizes

Nashville GLBT Chamber business networking members post referral revenues
Nashville’s GLBT Chamber of Commerce networking group, CRG, reported an anticipated $32,000 in revenue, from referrals, during the August-September period. The group’s structure and format lends itself to significant numbers of small business referrals. All small businesses welcoming the GLBT market are invited to attend.
