Music In the Meadow to feature "Music of Richard Rodgers"

Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary’s Music in the Meadow concert series continues Saturday, July 26, with some of Nashville’s premier musical theater performers singing their favorite Richard Rodgers show tunes. The gate opens at 5:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m.

Reprising last year’s highly popular Musical Theater in the Meadow show, the concert will feature a stellar lineup of talent, including Mike Eldred, who sang the role of Jean Valjean in Studio Tenn's enormous production of Les Miserables at the Schermerhorn. He will join local favorites Shelean Newman, Jenny Littleton, Connye Florence, Nan Gurley, Erin Parker, Melissa Hammans, Megan Murphy Chambers, Garris Wimmer, Robert Whorton, Chris Simonsen, and Galen Fott. Singers will perform songs from either the Rodgers & Hart or Rogers & Hammerstein collection.

“Carload” passes (up to six people) are $75 and individual tickets are $20. They can be purchased by telephone at (615) 370-4672 or online at owlshill.org. Single-person tickets will be sold at the gate, but parking is limited and advanced purchases and carpooling are strongly encouraged.

Patrons may bring their favorite food and beverages, lawn chairs, quilts and folding tables and enjoy a relaxing picnic on the lawn before or during the concerts. (A limited number of picnic tables are available.) Some guests show up early to visit with the Sanctuary’s non-releasable owls or take a short hike.

Proceeds from Music in the Meadow help support a wide variety of environmental educational and interactive programs for children, adults and families throughout the year, including summer camps for kids. In addition, proceeds go towards taking care of the sanctuary’s resident owls, restoration of native habitat and carrying out other conservation initiatives at Owl’s Hill.

Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary is a fully protected, 160-acre green space located at 545 Beech Creek Road just south of Murray Lane and east of Hillsboro Road.
