Martinis & Jazz gets a salt-rimmed twist!

“Put the lime in the coconut, drink them both together,
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better.”

Add some tequila to those ingredients and singer Harry Nilsson's iconic lyrics could serve as the inspiration for Nashville Pride's upcoming event!

Margaritas & Jazz will be take place on Saturday, May 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the home of Jim Schmidt and Joe Woolley.

Nashville Prides’s annual Martinis & Jazz event receives a Cinco de Mayo makeover as the new Margaritas & Jazz will offer tasty margaritas and Mexican fare, along with great music and a robust silent auction at one of the organization's most popular events.

Presented by Hope Takes Action, Margaritas & Jazz proceeds will benefit Nashville Pride’s mission to educate and maintain a sense of pride and awareness of, about, and for GLBT community in Middle Tennessee. Tickets can be purchased for $25 at www.nashvillepride.org, and the event is included in CORE 100 membership, which also offers supporters discounts to other Pride events.

"We’re putting a fun spin on an already fun event this year and we’re so excited to bring together friends of Pride for a wonderful evening of laughter and libations," says Nashville Pride President Randall Roop. "Margaritas & Jazz will give attendees all the great food, music and silent auctions items they've come to expect but with a Latin twist."

Margaritas & Jazz attendees can get a taste of that new Latin twist by trying the exciting recipe below:

Lime in the Coconut Margaritas

3/4 c. coconut cream
4 1/2 oz. tequila
1 1/2 oz. triple sec
1 1/2 oz. lime juice
1/4 c. sweetened flaked coconut
2 tsp. salt

Fill a blender with ice. Add the coconut cream, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Blend at high speed until smooth. Scatter the coconut and salt onto a plate. Wet the rims of four glasses. Dip the glass rims in the coconut and salt mixture. Serve the margaritas in the prepared glasses.
