In honor of the International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31st, 2021, Nashville attorney Joe Kwon of Joe Kwon Law is offering FREE and DISCOUNTED representation for clients seeking a legal name change in and around Nashville starting March 31st and throughout the month of April.
Seeing the recent rise in anti-trans legislation and its harmful impacts on our communities, Joe Kwon wanted to offer something in support. Having represented and guided trans clients through legal name changes, Joe Kwon thought that would be a meaningful way of supporting the vulnerable trans community to embrace their true self.

The first 5 clients to sign up starting March 31st, 2021 will receive pro bono (free) representation for their legal name change case and all others will receive a 50% discount on our usual flat fee of $500 for the legal name change representation throughout the month of April.
This includes:
- Initial consultation and ongoing communications with an attorney
- Drafting and filing of all necessary court documents
- Assistance in preparation and attendance for court hearings
The only thing that clients will be responsible for will be the court costs/filing fees. Due to geographical limitations, this offer is limited to clients in Davidson and surrounding counties, however, Joe Kwon Law is happy to answer questions and provide referrals for attorneys in other counties.
Take note that current Tennessee law prohibits amending a person’s sex on a birth certificate, even if a person undergoes gender affirmation surgery. However, this law is currently being challenged.
