A new store featuring contemporary furnishings and original art has opened on Rosa Parks Blvd.
Lance DuPre of DuPre Designs, an interior designer from New Orleans and resident at Werthan Mills, held its grand opening in mid-November, showcasing custom furniture designed by it owner.
The new store opened with a fashion show, featuring a new line of fashion by Justine Sylvi and an art exhibit featuring Donny Smutz, Stephen Watkins and Melissa Martin.
“I design because I have to; It keeps me up at night, sometimes days. I am opening a furniture and art store to express design through my collections, DuPre said. “My goal is to express my passion and have an outlet to release the energy it creates. I feel I have something to offer and I hope to set a new benchmark in creating inviting refuge comfort in contemporary living spaces.”
DuPre said he offered excellent quality with obtainable pricing to his customers.
His approach to design combines Zen, Feng Shui, romance and comfort.
“I seek to obtain a trust with a client and create their idea of the energy their space is asking for,” he said. “I naturally create a wow factor in all design space without escaping function and comfort.”
The contemporary furnishings offered by DePre are for residential and commercial spaces.
“I have put together an international collection of high end contemporary leather furniture,” he said. “The sofas are my design and private label. They are eight-way hand tide full cut Italian leather embracing contemporary class and comfort.”
He said the store will include international lines including Scandinavian, Italian, and French.
In addition to contemporary furniture, an art gallery is part of the space.
“I feel all space deserves original art,” he explained. “My mission is to be a leader in the presentation of contemporary visual arts. The gallery will seek to encourage the presentation of new works by emerging and established artists. I will feature a new artist and reception every month.”
