Hallmark Targeted by Homophobic 'One Million Moms' Over LGBTQ Inclusion

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 30, 2020) - The group One Million Moms is targeting Hallmark with a petition once again after the network announced it would include LGBTQ characters in its signature Christmas movie lineup.

The group had over 30,000 signatures (at the time of writing) to boycott the network and not purchase any Hallmark products as long as the company continues to “push the LGBTQ agenda”. (For those with long memories, One Million Moms targeted Home Depot for a donation to Nashville Pride years ago). One Million Moms is a subsidiary of the American Family Association (AFA) - listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center in its "Extremist Files."

Hallmark announced earlier this week that the 40 new movies headed this Holiday season will include LGBTQ storylines. Vice President of Crown Media Family (the network's parent company) George Zaralidis told CNN diversity and inclusion are a “top priority.”

“We look forward to making some exciting programming announcements in the coming months, including announcements about projects featuring LGBTQ storylines, characters and actors,” Zaralidis said in a statement.

The petition reads:

“Please do not add LGBTQ movies to the Hallmark Channel lineup. Such content goes against conservative values that are important to your primary audience. You will lose viewers if you cave to the LGBTQ agenda. Our family will change the channel and boycott Hallmark - the channel and Hallmark products - as long as the network surrenders to the LGBTQ agenda and airs controversial topics. For years, Hallmark was set apart from other channels because it aired wholesome content. Unless Hallmark realizes the mistake it has made by caving to LGBTQ activists’ groups, my family will have no other choice than to boycott Hallmark.”

With only 30,000 signatures, One Million Moms is still missing 970,000, so it appears either not every member of the group is on board, or the term “one million” is just ... decorative.
