Hedwig heads to Indianapolis

Zach & Zack, the team behind locally-produced favorites The Rocky Horror Show (three-time NUVO Best of Indy #1 winner of Best Locally Produced Play), The Great Bike Race and The Gab, are thrilled to announce the return of Hedwig and the Angry Inch to Indianapolis fro August 13 and select dates that month!

More than a woman or a man, legendary rock goddess Hedwig Schmidt is coming to turn Indianapolis on its head. With her husband Yitzhak and her band, The Angry Inch, in tow, Hedwig is setting up shop in The Park at the Phoenix, Indy’s coolest new urban outdoor entertainment venue, part of the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre at 712 N Illinois Street in Indianapolis.

In Hedwig, the “internationally ignored song stylist” tells her tale of a botched sex change operation and her journey over the Berlin Wall. Along the way, she’s learned a thing or two about life. Come witness a night like you’ve never experienced before.

About Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a rock musical that draws on writer John Cameron Mitchell's life as the child of a U.S. Army General who once commanded the U.S. sector of occupied West Berlin. The music is influenced by the androgynous 1970s glam rock rock of David Bowie and early punk such as Iggy Pop and Lou Reed. The musical opened Off-Broadway in 1998, and won the Obie Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical. The production ran for two years, went to Broadway, and had many national and international productions.
