GLBT Expo seeks sponsors

Nashville’s GLBT Chamber of Commerce is looking for sponsors for its upcoming 2007 Life, Business and Career Expo, including a title sponsor.

The title sponsorship - which places the name of the company willing to pay the $5,000 sponsorship fee as a tag-line on the title of the event – was shared last year by Bridgestone and Wells Fargo.

Additional sponsorships are available from $500 up to $2,500.

“This is a one-of-its kind event for the business community to showcase itself to the larger GLBT community,” said John Wade, president of Nashville GLBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLBTCC). “We think the added component of having a career fair will help push attendance and allow companies that wish to seek a diverse workforce an opportunity to speak to our community.”

Booth spaces are limited to 62 and are priced at $150 for chamber members and $195 for non-chamber members. Non-profits booth prices are $150.

This marks the third year of the Expo. It will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the City Hall Entertainment Space, a large expo center in Nashville's Gulch district. Admission to the exhibit hall is free.

The Expo will open its doors from 5 to 10 p.m., and an after expo networking event will be held in Bar Twenty3 from 9 to 11 p.m. Bar Twenty3 is adjacent to the Expo location and is a modern, two-story bar.

Expo Committee Chair and NGLBTCC Executive Vice President Shane Burkett said the committee felt that moving the event from a Saturday to a week night would help boost attendance and be more "business friendly."

"People are already in the 'business mode' during the week," he said. "That's not always true when an event like this is held on a weekend. People will be able to drop by directly after work."

Members of the NGLBTCC event's committee include Burkett, David Lazarus, Christopher Nadeau, Angie Petty and Toni Pack.
