Fusion '08 festival to benefit Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation

Fusion is back again for its fourth consecutive year, this year showcasing some of Nashville’s most promising and talented artists in an array of mediums.

Being held again this year in Nashville’s Gulch at City Hall (405 12th Ave. S.) and Project A Gallery (501 12th Ave. S.), tickets are available at www.nashvillefusion.com or at the door on Saturday, March 29. Tickets are $15 per person or $50 for VIP tickets, which include access to a catered party and an advance art showing. Corporate group rates are also available.

Having formed a reputation in Nashville as a must-attend event for young professionals, I was surprised last year to see so few people from the GLBT community present. The event is fashionable, fun and more importantly for a good cause.

In past years Fusion has raised more than $21,000 for the Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation’s Young Adult Cancer Survivor’s Retreats, two annual retreats for cancer survivor’s between the ages of 18 and 40. These retreats allow the survivors a weekend to relax and receive life-coaching as well as counseling.

Two new and exciting additions to the event are "Runway Fusion ‘08," a fashion competition featuring Nashville’s most fierce and fabulous designers going head to head to become the first "Runway Fusion," and a culinary challenge highlighting six local apprentice chefs from Nashville’s most trendy restaurants competing to be named Nashville’s "Fusion Top Chef."

This year the musical lineup includes a dream-soaked performance by Dabney Morris, the lush orchestral sounds of songstress Brooke Waggoner, and the highly talented Jeremy Lister, who is sure to deliver a spectacular performance.

Founded by Heather Karls back in ‘05, Fusion has become something of a red carpet event for Nashvillians. And while there isn’t actually a red carpet present, the event still gives a feeling of glitz, glamor and artistic prowess.

"We think we've put together a great evening that everyone in Nashville can enjoy while at the same time funding an opportunity for young cancer survivors to have a weekend of relaxation and encouragement." said Karls. "We really hope the GLBT community can make it out this year to help support this great cause!"

Sponsor’s for this year Fusion event are Genesis Diamonds, HCA, Nashville Breast Cancer and Two Rivers Ford.

From live music to runway fashion, culinary delights to the visual arts, Fusion ‘08 is sure to be a feast for the senses. Don’t miss it!
