Frenchie performs at Play

Frenchie, star of American Idol and Rent, took the stage to a packed house at Play Dance Bar last Friday night leading up Nashville Pride. She wowed the audience with four numbers.

Prior to Frenchie taking the stage, the crowd was blown away by five of Nashville's own amazing drag performers. Carmella Marcella Garcia used her quick whit and street smart attitude to keep the crowd rolling with laughter.

Play Dance Bar is one of Nashville's premier hot spots for not only the GLBT crowd but also the "heteroflexable" folks. Friday night's show was a prime example of how Play's crew and ownership really know how to bring down the house in style and show their Pride!

We would like to extend our gratitude to Play for a wonderful night. If you weren't there last Friday night, you definitely missed out.

T'was the night before pride

As Nashville PrideFest kicked off on Friday night, we sat among all the glitter, lights and perfume in Downtown Nashville at Play Dance Bar. Simply put, it's a must see. If you've never experienced this side street wonder, we recommend a quick add to your night club agenda. Wide open spaces, ice cold air and talent lurking around every corner. Packed to a full house we quickly understood that the GLBTQ community is ready to celebrate. It was truly a euphoric atmosphere.

As DJ Brent sounded off the list of playmates performing, the crowd pulsed with excitement. All took to the stage in order of their announcement. Austria Andrews, The Princess, Nicole Dupree, Chyna, and Ms. Carmella Marcella Garcia all captivated the audience. Each performance was packed with emotion and conviction. Who would forget the comical interjections of Ms. Carmella Marcella Garcia. She even shared the short story of how her name came about. What a gut busting story full of flair and eloquence.

Throughout every performance the hot to trot on lookers just couldn't stop from busting a move or two. Everybody had the need to express their own individual excitement, even if that meant a quick attempt to steal the spot light.

As if that wasn't enough to tickle your need for entertainment, the crowd quickly migrated to the second stage for a breathtaking performance by American Idol Star and Broadway entertainer, Frenchie. She was a fabulous addition to an already energetic spectator. Her voice dominated the room and she just couldn't stand still while on the stage. Her feet displayed the beat of her intense vocal serenade. It was a perfect dose of talent and dance.
